Our Mission and Purpose

At the St. Vincent de Paul Society, we're driven by a simple yet profound goal: to form a supportive community rooted in Gospel teachings, striving for personal growth, and working together to create a fairer world by serving those in need with care and compassion.

Beyond our Society's confines, the identities of the families receiving aid and the extent of support, both material and spiritual, remain confidential. Vincentians come from diverse backgrounds—doctors, office workers, lawyers, factory workers, homemakers, students, retirees—essentially, people like you. Your neighbor might be a Vincentian without your knowledge, and that's intentional. This discretion safeguards the privacy of those in need and enhances the efficiency of our efforts.

Vincentians are not professionally trained social workers, the important thing is the desire to serve as Jesus served.

Our History

Established in 1833, St. Vincent de Paul has expanded its reach to encompass more than 8 million members across 150 countries. Our network boasts over 1.5 million volunteers, tirelessly contributing their efforts in various capacities—no task is deemed too challenging. We are just one part of the broader St. Vincent de Paul conference, united in our mission to extend assistance to those in need within our community, echoing the love that God has called us to demonstrate. Operating within the Midwest region, we collaborate with partners such as the North American Lineman School to support approximately 200 families by providing essential food supplies.

Numerous Vincentians have experience in raising families, managing households, constructing buildings, fixing cars, and excelling in various other endeavors. The less fortunate require your skills, your knowledge, your compassion, your love. Anyone willing to extend a helping hand is encouraged to join the Society. Even dedicating a few hours of your time can make a significant difference to those in need and facing hardship. You have the opportunity to be an apostle within your own parish community.
